Building Our New House - End of March, 2005

View of our lot and the preparation necessary before pouring the slab. It took about 2 weeks from the time the forms were laid out until the concrete slab was poured.

preparing for the slab

Setting up forms for the slab. Look at that red dirt! It's heavy clay, so we'll need plenty of topsoil to plant anything on our property.

Closeup of the post tensioned slab with termite spray underneath the white moisture barrier sheet. You can see the plumbing connections sticking up. They're now ready to pour the concrete.

layout of the slab on our property

This view shows the layout of the house, driveway and garage. The house is on the left and the garage is in the back on the right (attached only by the roof). It's directly behind you if you imagine yourself standing on the gravel which will become our driveway.
